 IC Number- 6861AAQ, Pins- 48, Pakege type - 7mm x 7mm, QFN (Quad Flat No-Lead), Application- TFT LCD TV Panel Power Management.

To supply the bias voltages of millions of transistors inside the TFT LCD display of LCD TV, Inside the 6861AAQ IC, there are several low-dropout voltage regulators, which regulators are controlled by high-speed and high-precision voltage amplifiers.

The input voltage (VIN) or operating voltage of 6861AAQ IC is DC 8 volts to 14 volts. 6861AAQ IC has a switching circuit inside the IC for voltage boost, which has fixed switching frequencies of 500 kHz and 750 kHz, depending on the circuit design.

6861AAQ IC has a 150mA charge pump driver circuit for the adjustable VGL Output voltage. A 150mA current limit positive charge pump driver circuit is also used for adjustable VGH Output voltage. In the LCD TV power management circuit made by 6861AAQ IC, I observed that the maximum output voltage is 30 volts as VGH.

The VCOM voltage controls the signal current of the thin film transistors in the display to maximize the contrast of the LCD image. The 6861AAQ IC has a high-speed operational amplifier circuit to accomplish that process. Moreover, there is a high-speed and low-dropout reference voltage output circuit for the gamma buffer inside the 6168AAQ IC; high-current and high-accuracy operational amplifiers are used there.

1. Reference voltage (From AVDD) input terminal of the internal linear regulator.

2. VOP- Voltage input terminal of internal Operational Amplifier.

3. GND- Ground of operational amplifier

4. OPP- Noninverting input of the operational amplifier (Internal)

5. OPN- Inverting input of the operational amplifier (Internal)

6. OPP- Output of Opamp (VCOM output)

7. XAO- XAO signal output of reset function. The XAO signal detects the screen disappearance.

8. GVOFF- High voltage switching terminal controlled by T-Con.

9. EN - Enable the VGH charge pump.

10. FB2- Feedback-2: Feedback from the buck converter Output is provided here.

11. Out- The output sense of the buck converter is input here.

12. GND - This is the ground of the buck converter output section.


13. LX2- This is the Source terminal of the buck converter Output MOSFET (Internal).

14. LX2- It is also the source terminal of the buck converter output MOSFET.

15. BST - Bootstrap- The Internal Supply terminal of the high-side MOSFET gate driver.

Tips for LED TV repair technicians-

If a short circuit occurs in the 6861AAQ DC-to-DC converter circuit, or if a Short Circuit from VIN to the ground is found when measured with a meter, check the D11 diode, C27, C28, and C29 located on the schematic circuit diagram because if you look at the circuit diagram, you will understand that these components are directly connected from VIN to the ground.

Substitute of 6861AAQ IC

Substitutes for 6861AAQ IC can be RT9955 and 5562A, as the circuit of these three ICs is almost the same. I will publish the correct information here after I am sure about this.
