Sony Bravia TV's red light is blinking 2 times, how to solve this problem? It is in this presentation. This solution applies to all Sony Bravia Smart Android LCD/LED TVs and provides some information about its Processor MT5566GQVT.
Sony Bravia Smart TV Red Light Blinking 2-Times - Solution |
The red light blinking two-times problem on the Sony Bravia TV is an
error signal; by this blinking signal, the TV processor starts to reveal a problem with the TV's hardware or software.

Any model of Sony Bravia LCD TV's red light blinking 2-Times problem occurs for several reasons. If you are not a TV technician, and the TV's power supply is external, you can collect an AC adapter from the same TV and connect it to your TV to see if the 2-times blinking problem is resolved. If the problem persists, consult a qualified LED/LCD TV technician or Sony TV Service Center.
Solutions for TV Technicians:
• Unplug and Wait: First, unplug the TV from the power source and wait for about a minute. This will allow any residual power to dissipate and might reset some internal components.
• Measure with a meter whether the required voltage is properly output from the TV's AC adapter or SMPS circuit.
• Turn off the TV, then hold the red probe of the volt meter to the main positive supply output terminal; then switch on the TV, keep an eye on the meter screen, and see if the voltage drops during the TV starting time. If this condition drops one or more volts, check the filter capacitors and AC rectifier diodes in the SMPs circuit.
• If you are sure there is no issue with the power supply, then reset the TV.
• The red light blinking 2-times problem on Sony Bravia TV may be due to a TV operating system problem or software problem. In this case, the software can be updated via the TV software update option via WiFi or any other internet connection.
• However, the software problem occurs in very few Sony Bravia TVs, so if the red light blinks two times, the problem occurs on Sony Bravia TV; follow the instructions below to repair it.

How do you repair the Sony Bravia TV's red light that blinks two times?
If there is a short circuit somewhere in the circuit board of the Sony Bravia TV, if overcurrent follows, if there is an overload problem, if there is a low voltage input or output somewhere, in a word, if there is a hardware problem in the TV, the entire circuit of the TV goes into protection mode so that the components of the circuit board do not burn. When the TV is in protection mode, the red light blinks two times as an error signal.
It may also happen that none of those problems mentioned above occur anywhere on the circuit board, so it should be understood that there is a fault in the TV's protection system control circuit. Most of that protection circuit's components are inside the processor, and outside the processor is a resistive voltage divider circuit with two resistors connected in series.
A reference voltage (19.5V) is applied to one side of the series resistor, ground to the other, and a divider voltage is output from the middle; this divided voltage acts as a protection sense for the processor.
To check if the two resistors in the voltage divider circuit are damaged, find out where those two resistors are located on the board.

Many models of Sony Bravia TV use MediaTek processor, whose number is MT5566GQVT. This processor is a QFN or Quad Flat No-Lead Package processor, and its overload protection (OLP) terminal is located on the opposite side of terminal 1 (dot mark) indicated in the figure,
The figure shows a test point near R1, where I measured 19.5 volts with the meter. So, R1 and R2 are both voltage divider circuits. However, the values R1 and R2 are not written in it.
Ohm's Law R = V ÷ I or (R=V/I)
or R = 19.5 ÷ 0.209
or R = 93.30KΩ (Total resistance)
So, the total resistance of R1 and R2 is 93.3 KΩ. The protection terminal of MT5566GQVT requires 2.31 volts, so to get a 2.31 Volts output, we have to calculate the values of R1 and R2 according to the voltage divider formula. The voltage divider formula shows that R1 = 82KΩ and R2 = 11KΩ.
